In my personal opinion I don’t think it false, but I can’t confirm any of it. There are programs that can make fake iphone screen shots, and as an employee of a publicly traded company and relative to a high-profile executive-branch official, I’m sure one could find personal photos of the person in question quite easily. Still, it doesn’t matter if the story was true, Gawker was essentially accessory after the fact to blackmail, and outed someone previously in the closet about their sexual orientation.

Gawker is garbage. All of their subsites are garbage click bait Daily Mail level bullshit. I only read this oppo now because the people who post here are normal regular people or people who honestly care about what they are writing.

There are actually some really good journalists at Jalopnik. Patrick George and Tyler Rogoway are pretty damn good at investigative work and I don’t think that any of the Jalopnik crew would even think about running a piece like this.
